World Thinking Day

wtd2019patchEach year on February 22, girl participate in activities and projects with global themes to honor their sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in other countries. It is a special day in the Girl Scout year when we remember that we are part of a worldwide movement.  Since February 22nd falls within the booth sale time, our Service Unit hosts its annual event at the beginning of February.  For 2019, our celebration, it is on February 2nd.  Click here for the flyer and information.

World Thinking Day was started in 1926 to celebrate our global connection.  Every triennium, there is a set of themes for girls to explore:

  • 2019:  Leadership – girls learn different ways to be a leader
  • 2020:  Diversity, Education and Inclusion
  • 2021:  Peacebuilding

Read about the history of World Thinking Day. Learn more about the Millennium Development Goals by participating in the Girl Scout Global Action Award.

Give the gift of international travel by donating to the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund, supporting girls’ participation in international leadership development events.

Troops have until January 8th, 2019 to pick a WAGGGS country with an active organization if they would like to host or to sign up if they would like to be tourists/visitors.  Here is the list of official WAGGGS organizations.  Click on each of the regions to see the countries.
